What education do i need to get a decent job in computer science?

I am going to be a junior in high school, and i'm looking for colleges to attend that provide computer science-programming %26amp; design degrees. I have been searching and I'm still not for sure what to go into when i finish my education with computer science.

What education do i need to get a decent job in computer science?
It really depends on how well youre doing in school and what your SAT and ACT score will be to get into a good tech school and if youre going to stay close to your hometown.

Go to this website:

http://www.collegesurfing.com/ce/search/... and enter your zip code and the program you are interested in and it might bring up a list of colleges in your area.
Reply:There is no level of education that will help you get a job in computer science in the US. There simply aren't any jobs out there. There are thousands of highly skilled computer people out there with PhD's that can't get work.

If you really want to work in computers, I suggest no more than a 2 year tech degree. Nearly all computer work is done in India and China these days. You can't compete with PhD's who get paid only $1.50/hr.

Save yourself a lot of heartbreak and pick a different field.
Reply:There are a bunch of schools that are virtually synonymous with Computer Science.

In my opinion, the top 5 would be:

MIT

Caltech

Stanford

Univ of California, Berkeley

Univ of California, San Diego

Get a degree from any of them and the Internet will be your oyster. :)
Reply:I would suggest at least a 4 year degree in computer science. More is always better but I have a 4 year degree and have found quite a few good jobs out there. It was pretty rough about 5 years ago when people where getting laid off right and left but the market is quite a bit better now. Sure, many jobs have been getting outsourced but there will always be a need for in-house programmers who are good. Also, even with jobs getting outsourced their needs to be people in the US to manage these projects so being a project manageer in programming is another good option. Not sure where you are located but when I was searching for school UofI in Urbana-Champaign is a great school. Very reasonable tuition, even for out of state. I ended up at Michigan State cause it was close to home, but not a well known school for Engineering.
